Any ways of validating historical claims?

I found this video while browsing YouTube today. Is there any way to tell if it is a fake transcript? Somehow it seems too good to be true. I mean, it has Pilate quoting Christ…?

Woah, he was called an Egyptian necromancer? That strikes me as intriguing. I know it sounds unusual but my eyes are now seeing this text in another color (green) after 11 minutes of watching, what is happening to me?

Regardless of the report’s authenticity, we know from the Gospels they were constantly prevaricating against Jesus, so that is actually nothing new…

We don’t always realize the extent of the hostilities between the parties involved…

In today’s church, especially post-WWII and post-V2, we tend to think of the nice Jesus, which is true… Mercy is emphasized…

But dont forget that in the garden of Gethsemane Saint Peter was so infuriated he literally took a knife to Malchus and cut off his ear… And I imagine the fight would have escalated if Jesus hadn’t stopped it right then and there…

So - when contemplating the Passion - it seems hard to wrap ones head around how angry they all were…

Yes, look for it in Vatican documents
For some reason the Vatican’s website is running very slowly, and I’m not even sure of where to look (other than the search bar).

That said, a Google search pulled up something on NewAdvent.org, which seems to be a generally credible Catholic resource.

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01111b.htm

From what they say, Pilate didnt really write the letter, although perhaps someone in the Praetorium did, and then it was preserved in their archives. And, if I’m following it correctly, they also say “Acta Pilate” might go by the title of “The Gospel of Nicodemus”.

It’s a bit tedious trying to get all the information straight. But, while it’s a questionable document, if it were at least provable that it was written and responsibly curated by a Roman (not a Christian or a Jewish) authority - it would speak volumes. A secular viewpoint would likely be erroneous from a Judeo-Christian perspective, but the Romans certainly would have had no problem speaking their minds, and yet they’d be a more objective source than if the author/curator was influenced by Judaism or Christianity.

doubtful, but if this were genunie, they would have it. Pontus Pilate was recently verified as being genuine by a plaque found with his name on it.
So I very much doubt this report is real.

people I was answering the question, if this was genuine, the vatican would have it.

its a fake transcript.
