Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone here is actively involved in editing/contributing to wikipedia? There’s one Catholic article in particular I feel needs editing, and I tried to but I’m not too familiar with doing it. I think it is important as it is damaging to people’s faith.
It doesn’t help that many wikipedia contributors are of a left leaning bias.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Can you point me to the part that you think needs editing?

I’m not a Wikipedia editor myself, just curious.

There’s multiple issues, it doesn’t reflect the truth about the shroud. Two in particular are an unfounded anecdote about someone saying it was a forgery and also the dating which has been refuted by many people due to it being taken from a patched area. It’s a complicated issue, but the article doesn’t reflect both sides of the discussion, only one.

Well you have a problem here, because the article, even the parts you contest about the forgery story, is bolstered by reliable secondary sources. The “unfounded anecdote” is cited to two recent scholarly history books, which meet a high bar of reliability on Wikipedia (and elsewhere). You say it does not reflect both sides of the discussion, so you will need to start coming up with books and scholarly published papers that support the other side of the story that you wish to represent. That’s the start of it.

Just out of interest do you believe in the shroud or not? Not that I’m trying to make this thread a debate about it.
