I might be attending college in Japan, and am wondering if there are any consecated communities (nuns/sisters) in Japan? Thanks!

I’m sure there are at least a few. Are you looking for cloistered orders or active/contemplative orders? Does it matter if they have habits or not?

There are.
I occasionally see nuns out in public or when riding the underground where I live.
I’d think there should be even more in Nagasaki, where a much higher percentage of the population is catholic than here.👍

Do you live in Japan? Ever sinse I was a child I have been fasinated by Japan. I think Kyoto is such a beautiful city.

I prefer active orders. I really look up to Blessed Damien of Molokai, and want to do work for those who suffer.
The habit is a must for me. I look at it as truly giving up the worlds vanities.

Yes. I find that most cities here have “islands” -so to speak-of natural/architectural beauty but that most of the rest is pretty bleak.
From what I’ve seen, Kyoto just has more nice bits than others. The Japanese bureaucracy and urban planners have a knack for making a disgraceful shambles of anything they touch.😦
