I met with a very holy and spirit-filled priest yesterday for some healing and counselling. Afterward, I had a real experience of the Holy Spirit, and found myself standing exactly half way between the Blessed Sacrament and the Holy Water in this tiny chapel, with my hands reaching out to both. Afterward, I had a tingling sensation in my hands, and found myself sitting there saying to God ‘no, please, no’, but in the way you might if someone was tickling you, a playful refusal, rather than a painful one.

Anyway, the tingling in the hands just came out of nowhere and seemed really odd, I instantly related it in my mind to the idea that maybe God wanted my hands for Himself, which I’d never even considered before. The one thing I had always thought I was sure of was that I wasn’t called to THAT!

So, anybody experienced anything similar? What did the Holy Spirit do next? What did you do to respond? I’m scared and a little excited too.

You experienced a close moment. But be cautious as to never judge your faith based on the senses of your natural life.

It is true that God wants your hands for Himself. The message is true, whether the experience was authentic or not. He wants your complete devotion, your complete love, and your complete trust.

Does this mean that you are called to the consecrated life? Perhaps.

Saint Bernard of Clairvaux once estimated that about one out of three Catholics (~33%) have a vocation to the consecrated life. Yet today, less one in every twenty-thousand Catholics (<0.5%) are consecrated religious…a very disconcerting statistic, if even remotely accurate.

Blessings.

You may have been hyperventilating. This produces tingling in the hands.

Not according to what I’ve read, it says this:
If you have hyperventilation syndrome – that is, if you regularly hyperventilate – you might not be aware of it. But you will be aware of having many of the associated symptoms, including dizziness or lightheadedness, shortness of breath, belching, bloating, dry mouth, weakness, confusion, sleep disturbances, **numbness and tingling in your arms or around your mouth, muscle spasms in hands **and feet, chest pain, and palpitations.

DL82, I think you ought to discuss this with that Priest again, perhaps you are being called to a Vocation to the Priesthood. Why not you?
