Anyone else have teens at Mount 2000?

My kids are all in Emmitsburg. MD for Mount 2000 this weekend. The older ones have been going for 5 years; our youngest is there for the 2nd time. The weekend is organized and run by the seminarians at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary and the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. They focus on penance and the Eucharist, have great talks, live music and all night adoration. Lots of teens go to confession for the first time in many years.

My girls left with the youth group, but since my son had class until late, he didn’t get there until around 11:30pm. When I dropped him off I saw nuns in full habits and friars in robes coming and going from the adoration building. It was great to see! I’m so glad my kids get to see so many faithful Catholics all in one place! (pray for their safe return on Sunday as it’s supposed to snow all night Saturdsy!)

I have never heard of this KCT. Is there some other info available? What a great idea!

BTW, did your kids all make it home with their halos in place?😉

They didn’t leave w/ halos, so I didn’t expect them to arrive home w/ any!

The event was started by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, but my kids tell me the friars haven’t been in a few years. Not sure what the deal is. They said the talks were good, but there were more younger kids and more kids who didn’t seem to know how to behave during Mass and adoration.

I’ve heard that Youth 2000 retreats are held all over the country. Perhaps they’re similar. —KCT
