Anyone else love Sandra Boynton's books?

I started buying Sandra Boynton’s books for my baby and I just love them! We’ve been singing snuggle puppy for two days, and I really love Moo Ba La La La and Fuzzy Fuzzy Fuzzy. I can’t wait to get the Philadelphia Chickens cd from the library.
 
Our favorite is Pajama Time. We are on our second copy, because we wore out the first. I don’t know why, but we love it.
 
It’s my baby boy who really loves these books. Their bright colors had his attention when he was just one week old.

I also like that they’re available in Spanish.
 
Nope, I never liked them and my kids never liked them either. We had a million children’s books but none of the Sandra Boynton books. I didn’t like the illustrations or the narratives. I know people who hated Dr. Seuss books (especially the illustrations), but I really liked the narrative and tolerated the illustrations.
 
We have both Sandra Boynton’s books and Dr. Seuss. The former is great for the little ones, and once they master that, then on to Dr. Seuss!! 👍
 
I think they are very cute. I like some Suess, but I do not like the illustrations, Sam I am. I like the Carl books alot for little guys. Also, I like the Dragon book series by Dave Pilkey–though I think they are out of print. We also like the baby books–you know where the photographer dresses babies up like things–flowers, etc. I forget her name.
 
Mary Murphy’s I Kissed the Baby is also great for infants. Mostly black and white, and great intonation in your voice when reading. My daughter likes to stare at it at only 6 weeks old.
 
Speaking of children’s book authors, I just read that Tana (Tanya?) Hoban died. She did many little baby books, usually those small cardboard books. She was a photographer and her books had pictures of things in a baby’s world. I remember liking her books.
 
Yes I love the Boynton books! They have a rhythm to them that can allow the parent to really get artistic with it. Since any book that a child likes you can expect to read many times over in a one hour period - the ability to have fun with the book really helps.

You know that’s something that having children taught me. Because children are want to ask for the same story several nights in a row, if forces the parent to put some “art” into the telling. I’ve really honed some stories down to perfection.

Do you “sing” these books as you read them? I always do. I guess that is one reason why my sons really love them.
 
I never did UNTIL I had kiddos, now I do!

I too love Barnyard Dance as well as the Goodnight book.
But I think my favorite is “But not the Hippopotamus”. Maybe it is the cute way my hubby reads it to the kids. 🙂
 
One is good for a quiet walk
Two is good for a quiet talk
Three is great for having tea, or for counting “One, Two, Three”
And if you want to go explore the number you should have is Four
Five works well for a ride in the car… as long as the car ride isn’t too far…

Barnyard Dance I highly recommend this one, it’s very fun!
“bow to the horse bow to the cow, twirl with the chickens if you know how.”

also Oh My Oh My Oh, Dinosaur My kids always chuckle at the last page where all the dinosaurs have tears in their eyes and it says “Dinosaurs waving right at you to say goodbye because we’re through.” I always point right at their tummy when I say “YOU” and tickle a bit. So fun.

I LOVE our Sandra Boynton Books. We have several of the cardboard versions. My youngest is still enjoying them but I think I will keep them in my “baby toy box” of baby toys I keep for when babies visit, after she outgrows them.

I love that one too. I just got it from the library, but I’m going to buy a copy. I lovr Snuggle Puppy, and since it supposed to be sung I went to her website to find the tune and saw that she had CDs. I got them from the library and we love them. I dance around the living room with the baby in the sling when she’s fussy and she loves it. SNuggle Puppy is still my favorite song, although the chocolate chip cookie song is very cute.
