Anyone Else Read the Bible More Than They Pray?

Personally, I don’t seem to grow in faith very much from prayer. Rather, reading the Bible a lot has helped me greatly. Don’t get me wrong, I do pray. I offer up my Bible reading as a prayer, I pray the Rosary, and I also pray at night and throughout the day.

However, these days I spend most spiritual time reading the Bible. Any other big Bible fans out there?

Not as much as I used to, but there’s nothing wrong with that.

I’ve always been better at Bible reading and study than prayer. But honestly, it doesn’t have to be an either/or situation. I have always enjoyed praying the Psalms, for example, or asking for wisdom and finding God speaking clearly through scripture.

I pray the Liturgy of the Hours which largely, apart from the hymn, intercessions, the patristic and hagiographic readings, and collect, IS the Bible (psalms, canticles and readings).

Great to see you, Ora.

O pray much more than read Scripture, although I read that pretty much every day.

Reading the Bible is a form of prayer. If you’re reading the Bible and pondering it, you can’t help but be praying.

It is pretty common for people to find non-verbalized or informal prayer more appealing as they get older, or at certain times of their lives.

If you read prayerfully, it’s a 2fer…i can’t recall, for years, reading scripture and not praying.

It’s equal for me personally… when I read the Bible I read front to back, and when I’m done I read it again. As for praying I pray in English and in tongues. Sometimes I just talk to God as a friend though.
