I started reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan. It’s very eye opening. one of my favorite Francis Chan quotes…
“Nowhere in scripture do I see “balanced life with a little bit of God added in” as an ideal for us to emulate. Yet when I look at our churches this is exactly what I see: a lot of people who have added Jesus to their lives. People who have in a sense asked Him to join them on their life journey and follow them wherever they feel they should go, rather than following Him as we are commanded. The God of the universe is not something we can just add to our lives and keep on as we did before. The Spirit who raised Christ from the dead is not someone we can just call on when we want a little extra power in our lives. Jesus Christ did not die in order to follow us, He died and rose again so that we could forget everything else and follow Him to the cross, to true Life.”

Haven’t read it but with a quote like that I’m going to find it and read it.

That is an amazing quote and how true! Many of us think we are “good” Catholics or Christians because we go to church every week and pray every day… but are we just “adding” Jesus to our lives or should we be adding our lives to Jesus.

Stop “making” our Religion into convenience and get back to the Root of the Tree…Jesus!

Paul

This book will make you stop and think. It is easy to read but it will challenge you to be sold out to Christ.

I have read this book and whether you are Catholic or Protestant, it is a very good book. It will cause you to look at how you live as a Christian and how your church lives out the Christian life.

Francis Chan writes about how most Christians live the faith in a lukewarm way and do not follow the true teachings of Christ. It is really an eye-opening book. I have often felt that the message that I get from my parish is “don’t worry, be happy”, we are all going to Heaven, just come to church when you can, and be a decent person. But as Francis Chan shows in his book, that is nowhere near the message that Christ gave his followers. Jesus calls us to a radical kind of faith!
