I am going to be visiting Tampa the weekend of April 1st. DH & I are going to The Festa Italiana in Ybor City and it happens to fall on April 1st, which is Palm Sunday. We want to find preferably a reverent N.O. Mass nearby. We will be staying about 2 blocks from Ybor City. A Tridentine Mass would be nice but I don’t think there are any in the area. So, if you can help me find a reverent N.O.(no happy-clappy please;) ), I would appreciate the information.🙂

 All by myself…don’t want to be…all by myself, anymore.
Hello?😦

Genesis315,:blessyou:
Wow! Sacred Heart is a beautiful church! We’ll most likely go there to an early Mass. I just took the 360 tour and it’s uncanny how much the interior looks like my Parish! Thank you so much:) .
P.S. Have you ever been to the Italiana Festa? This is their 10th year. It will be my first time going. I found out about it last year but it was much too close to our Daughter’s wedding date so we could not make it. This years entertainer will be Joe Piscopo who does an incredible impersonation of Frank Sinatra’s singing!

I worked in Tampa for three months and stayed over near the Tampa airport. Most of the time I went to Christ the King on South Dale Mabry.

Unfortunately, I can’t help you with Masses out near Ybor City. I trust you’ve seen the list of parishes in the Diocese of St. Petersburg? I think you’d want one in the East Hillsborough Deanery.

Oh, funny story. My wife came to visit one weekend, and we wanted to find a 5 PM Saturday Mass in St. Petersburg. I saw these folks going into a Catholic church, and I asked the guy at the door if Mass was about to start. He said yes and invited us in.

Quickly, we noticed we were by far the youngest people there, and . . . the Mass was in French! It was a French-Canadian Mass for the snowbirds. Through my high school French, I picked up about a quarter of the homily.

🙂 Thank you for the link to Church listings. I went to the Diocese website, but for some reason couldn’t find any Church listings. That’s funny about the French Mass, but at least you understodd some of it, I would have been lost!:rotfl:

Don’t go to Sacred Heart in Tampa expecting a lot of reverence. It is a beautiful building, but many of the parishioners come to Holy Mass as if it were a picnic.

The most depressing liturgy I ever attended was my goddaughter’s First Holy Communion at Sacred Heart.

Oh:(. Thanks for the information. I will keep that in mind, I have another option.🙂

The Sunday 11AM Mass at Sacred Heart in downtown Tampa, my parish, is not a "picnic."
The 1st Communion Mass is a children Mass at 9AM.
