Anyone had contact with other Catholic Churches?

I have just seen literature from a place called the Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch headed by Bishop Mark Newman which has a seminary called the Sophia Divinity School. They ordain women and GLBT. According to a list I saw, there are maybe 100? other types of Catholic Churches in the U.S. and other countries. What do you think? Does anyone know anything about these churches?

This is NOT a Catholic Church.

There is only **one **authentic Catholic Church. There are not 100s of “other types” of Catholic Churches.

Any Church that is actually Catholic is in union with the Pope and under jurisdiction of a Bishop appointed by the Pope.

Any other entity using “Catholic” in their title, but not in union with the Pope, is a fake. They are a schismatic or heretical sect and should be avoided.

The Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch is a Catholic Church in the fullest sense of what the word “catholic” means. Thus, we are a Catholic Church in the oldest, universal, orthodox sense of the word as defined by St. Polycarp in the second century. We have valid apostolic succession through both the Roman Catholic line of apostolic succession and Syro-Jacobite line of apostolic succession. We maintain the fidelity of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. We are an independent branch of the “one, holy, catholic, apostolic church of Christ” as promulgated in the Nicene Creed . . . .

And see the contradiction there. They are supposedly part of the “one” Church, but an “independent” branch. How can you be one and independent?

There are actually 23 Catholic Churches. They are all in union with the Pope. Collectively they are the one Catholic Church. Each Church has autonomy, but not independence. The difference is this, California is autonomous from the US. Mexico is independent of the US. Independence means you are not a part of. Autonomous means you are self governing but a member of the union. The 23 Catholic Churches are autonomous from one another, each led by a Patriarch, but all Churches are united under the Pope, in the same sense that all US States are united under the Federal Government headed by the President.
