Anyone use CatholicMatch or Catholic Singles or something and have any luck?

We have a friend, a woman who was in her 50s at the time, who found a good Catholic husband on match.com. No idea what the situation is for younger generations. Another option (it’s not either-or) is to get involved with a good (I would add “traditional”, but that’s up to you) church. Figure out the kind of people you want to date, and go where they are likely to be found,.

There have been members of this site that have met their spouses on Catholic online dating sites. Perhaps some of them will post. 🙂

Depends how you define luck… I had one good date from Match.com, but that was it and I’m still single… No luck whatsover with CatholicMatch… Too few users I suppose😕

I personally know two women who met their husbands thru online dating.

My daughter has met a couple guys thru Catholic Match, but nothing serious yet. As far as I know, that is. She refuses to talk about her romantic life.

Hello dolphin,

There isn’t any luck to online dating. It’s just like regular dating— hard work, fraught with the same perils, and full of all kinds of people including great people and bad people.

There are additional challenges in some cases, like distance.

I met my husband on Ave Maria 16 years ago. We’ve been married 14.

My advice is to take it slow, not have overblown expectations, and not rush into anything. Also don’t expect miracles. I was on Ave for 2 years before I met my husband and met and dated several other men who didn’t turn out to be the right ones.

My brother met his wife on Catholic Match. Great lady and they are very happy together.

I’ve been on and off multiple sites for 4 years and never had it result in a date. Those sites do work for some people and catholicmatch is one of the best but it helps if you are in or near a highly populated area to increase the number of matches.

My recommendation is if you do join one, don’t be highly critical of every word in a profile. Some people make terrible profiles and are great in person and some of the most well written profiles are people looking for perfection. Just as in life, chat a little first and you’ll get a better picture of who they are apart from their sales pitch.

Stay away from the free website POF. All i found is a bunch of sex crazed men that want me for sex and not to really know me. but of course im sure there are some good ones on there i just left because i got fed up. Catholic match didnt seem that active to me. I havnt tried match yet. im taking a break.

I met my Catholic wife on a non-Catholic site 12 years ago. I know what you mean - women are bombarded with endless requests and lewd comments from men who are after one thing only. Rightly so, the women are then suspicious of any man who writes to her, and many are ignored. It doesn’t work for everyone.

I tried OkCupid. Not much luck and I wouldn’t recommend it.

My brother used CatholicMatch and is Engaged 👍

My one friend likes Bumble but I’m skeptical…

Location is very important!

I was on Catholic Match for a couple of years and didn’t have any luck. Granted, the pool size was almost non existent.

Just celebrated our 20th anniversary with my husband, whom I met on Ave Maria Singles (The very first match!) I personally think Ave Maria is the best for those who are really serious about their faith. I know of several couples that have met using this website; CatholicMatch, not so much. They are the only two I have any experience with.

There’s no such thing as luck when it comes to any kind of dating. Dating is primarily based on your social skills and willingness to put yourself out there and whether or not you’ve presented yourself properly which means you’re physically fit and can groom yourself and are financially independent. I’m still working on the last few prongs so until I reach my goals I’m not dating.

You must admit, though, that if you’re a serious Catholic, it’s slim pickings.

I’m on a few of the websites like CatholicChemistry, CatholicMatch and CatholicSingles but CC and CM are probably more better choices with higher response rates. I’m actually in the middle of talking to someone I met on CC and about to go on a date with them in a few weeks. I met someone also on CM, had a date but no success with that person.

You can be a serious catholic and not have unrealistic standards

I had a couple dates with a really sweet woman I met on Tinder, but wouldn’t have worked (I’m too conservative for her, politically and religiously). Another couple “meh” dates from Plenty of Fish.

Ended up marrying a woman I had met in college. Ran into her at an Ole Miss football game, started chatting, and now hitched. Serendipity!

Catholic Match is just as visual for many people as the secular sites. As I’m in the shorter than average with the dad bod and below average facial look demographic, I did not do well on any online site. But I do ok getting dates offline and I am alway happy for those who succeed in finding each other and I pray that they stay married, they are fruitful and they multiply as I think that family is a good thing even if it is harder to achieve than it used to be. For the shy and/or introverted among the readers of either sex, I can’t recommend social partner dance lessons enough.
