I was a board member for our local L’Arche community for a number of years. The community is a loving, joy-filled place where people with and without intellectual disabilities live as a family, working and sharing together. “Mutual relationships and trust in God” pretty much sums up the core values.

Jean Vanier - a good friend of Mother Teresa - is the founder of L’Arche. The people who live in the community, and those who help them, are among the most loving, truly Christian people I know.
 
Thanks for the reply. May I ask where in the “Very deep south” you were a board member?

I am in suburban Atlanta.
