My parish priest came with Holy Communion for me when I was sick with pneumonia. I remember him saying that it would be at least 3 weeks before I would be back in church for Mass. And then after those weeks, when I thought I was well enough, he forbid me to come the next Sunday. I guess I wasn’t looking well enough and he didn’t want the rest of the parish to fall ill.
If you are sick then you are not obliged to go to Mass on Sundays. Nobody wants your viruses or bacteria. If hopping on crutches with a fractured leg or having bad balance due to age and roads are full of ice then stay home. Or using a wheel chair and risk getting stuck in snow because the roads are not cleared yet. Same thing with caring for a new born when viruses are spreading like crazy. Use common sense!
When I have visited granny I have had to miss Sunday Mass simply because of the distance to the church building and lack of public transportation. The first time this happened the priest I talked to said to read the readings for the day and to pray instead and that is what I have continued to do.
I am sure the priest, deacon or someone from the parish would come with Holy Communion for you if you need to be away from Mass for several weeks in a row. Read the readings for the day and pray. Nobody expects you to do the impossible or risking yours and others health.
