Is there anyone in South Dakota who can update us on how the campaign for Law 6 to ban abortion is going?

I am from South Dakota, and it could go either way. Personally, I am opposed to the ban in its present language, so I voted “no” per absentee ballot.

Emotions run high on both sides, and not even all clergy support this ban.

In the end, I do expect voters to approve the ban, as the “Vote Yes” campaign has been extremely agressive.

I agree that it is probably going to be very close. I voted absentee but for the abortion ban. There were many prayer services, Catholic and non-Catholic all over the state last night.
and not even all clergy support this ban.
While there may be a couple “off the record” exceptions, from my experience in SD, the clergy has been great at encouraging the vote for life. I was at Bishop Swain’s ordination/installation a couple of weeks ago. He was very firm in the Church’s position and received a standing ovation for several minutes from the crowd and all the priests.

Edit to last post: When I was referring to clergy, I was talking about Catholic clergy. I realize now that you were probably referring to non-Catholic clergy as there was one group that held a news conference against the ban. However, I think it is only fair to state that that group is in the small minority in this area and not representative of most of the churches and clergy.
