I’m running a 30 hour famine at my church, and I’m in charge of all the prayer services we’ll be having. I can’t think of a prayer service involving hunger. I have to have 3. Right now I’m going to be doing a Lectio Divina and a meditation about thirst, but I need one more for the end of the famine when they’ll all be leaving. Does anyone know any neat prayers or something that will last for about 30 minutes? This one will be right before mass when they’ll be breaking their fast with the eucharist. (If that helps at all)
Thanks!😃

Why don’t you do part of the Liturgy of the Hours? Ancient is good!

How about a meditation on Psalm 63? (The soul hungering and thirsting for God)

1 A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
2 O God, you are my God — for you I long! For you my body yearns; for you my soul thirsts, Like a land parched, lifeless, and without water.
3 So I look to you in the sanctuary to see your power and glory.
4 For your love is better than life; my lips offer you worship!
5 I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands, calling on your name.
6 My soul shall savor the rich banquet of praise, with joyous lips my mouth shall honor you!
7 When I think of you upon my bed, through the night watches I will recall
8 That you indeed are my help, and in the shadow of your wings I shout for joy.
9 My soul clings fast to you; your right hand upholds me.
10 But those who seek my life will come to ruin; they shall go down to the depths of the earth!
11 They shall be handed over to the sword and become the prey of jackals!
12 But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by the Lord shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut!

Another possibility: a meditation on John 6 (multiplication of loaves and Bread of Life discourse). This might be a good lead-in to the Mass.

The Akathist Hymn of Thanksgiving would be a great conclusion to a 30 hour fast.
The Akathist Hymn: "Glory to God for All Things"
This Akathist, also called the “Akathist of Thanksgiving,” was composed by Protopresbyter Gregory Petrov shortly before his death in a prison camp in 1940. The title is from the words of Saint John Chrysostom as he was dying in exile. It is a song of praise from amidst the most terrible sufferings.
If you are interested, I can assist you with the proper order of things.
