I’m talking about at St. Joe’s missal from Catholic Book Publishing Comany or something like that. Anyone know when a missal will be orderable?

According to this website the Church editions of the new missal will not be available for shipping until October 1, 2011.
That said, I don’t imagine that a personal missal will be available any earlier than that.

If you go here, you can give some of it a look.

I get a ton of advance advertisements for purchasing Missals (We ordered ours from Catholic Book Publishing as they were the least expensive since we need about 10), but I haven’t seen any advance advertisements for personal hand missals. I would assume that publishers are completley bogged down with publishing the “big books” that the smaller personal ones will come out at a later date. The shipment date for parish editions is Oct. 1.

Magnificat is quite reasonable. The chapel version is $70 while the altar version is $169. I am going to order the chapel version for a very dear priest friend of mine. The artwork is also quite stunning; however, the one that puts us to shame is the version being published by the Catholic Truth Society for the Bishops of England and Wales.

It would be nice if there was a version that wasn’t “a work of art,” i.e., just the text and music notation, and maybe a few pictures, not a picture on every couple of pages, like most of these ones. I don’t know about you guys, but $70 still seems outrageous to me. I don’t want a work of art, I just want a book that I can read and learn and practice from. I can’t seem to find that. And it’s too bad nothing for next year is shipping until October, because my choir doesn’t start singing at Mass until Advent, and there are a few chants that are only in the revised Roman Missal, i.e., the Proclamation of the Birth of Christ for Christmas Midnight Mass. So we don’t have much to rehearse from.

Oh well. 🤷

Liturgiam Authenticam did mandate that the Roman Missal be as beautifully made as the Sacred words it contains. Even Pope Benedict XVI noted as much.

As far as the material, what my parish is doing is learning the ICEL settings for the time being. These are already the defaults, since they are incorporated into the actual Roman Missal. Furthermore, they are simple enough that the faithful can learn them and sing them when there is no choir present or for daily Mass.

I too would like to see St. Joseph or someone get a personal missal ready by Advent. When you look at St. Joseph website the only missals are large, Parish size. And they are still selling the current hand Missal as the “one and complete” as if no changes were coming.🤷
