I’m looking for a recording of the prayers chanted in Greek by the Byzantine Patriarchs at the end of Pope JPII’s funeral. I’m a real fan of that chanting style. I’ve found some similar Greek Orthodox chants on iTunes (where you buy iPod music), but I’d rather have the Catholic versions. Any suggestions??

There are no “Catholic versions”; the chants of the East are identical in both Orthodoxy and Eastern Catholicism except for the dyptichs or commemorations of the hierarchy. You will discover that, on any thread regarding chant in the Byzantine tradition, a significant number of the links offered will originate from Orthodox sites.

You may want to look through a thread in the EC forum, The most beautiful “church music” I’ve ever heard, particularly posts 21 and 22, which offer a diverse selection of links to various of the Eastern and Oriental Christian styles of chant.
