I just finished listening to this book on audio, and I have to say it’s terrific. It’s billed as a fantasy, but it’s really not that at all. It’s historical fiction and is very respectful and true to the role of the Church in medieval society.
The main character is an adolescent English boy who joins a crusade in the early 13th century. The boy is pure and true and wants to become a knight to serve Jesus Christ. I’m going to give it to my 14-year-old son, but I just discovered that it’s the third of a series. Has anyone read the first two? If so, what were they like?
