It’s by Fr. Benedict Groeschel. Don’t know if I should spend the money or not.

it’s broadcast on EWTN – if you want to listen online, you can go to kble.com/ at 8pm pacific time.

i’m really new to the rosary, and i find it helpful. someone else is remembering what the mysteries are, and in what order. 🙂 he offers commentary on some of the mysteries as well. there’s music in the background, and now and then simonetta breaks into song… that’s a bit much for me.

the CD has further commentary and more music. i don’t feel like i would need to spend money on it, but i do like to listen when i’m free.

That would depend if you are a person (like me) who needs this kind of help to stay centered on the prayers and meditations. I spent the money, and play it frequently.

Is it “cheesey”? I’m eighteen, so I don’t want something that’s designed for old ladies (no offense to anyone here, it just is what it is!)

Not cheesy at all. And Father Groeschel’s meditations are informative and centering.

Hmmmm…we seem to have various opinions as to its cheeseyness. So, anyway you could hear it before deciding to buy it?

Note: The Mary Foundation has a rosary CD without comments or musics, which I use on those days I do not want comments or music.

The Mary Foundation Rosary names all the mysteries at each decade of rosary. This is a regular five decade rosary.
I prefer a rosary tape or CD that has separater mysteries. It seems to more of a teaching aid for the rosary rather than an actual prayer tool. Although I know you can still pray with it. Just tell Our Lord and Our Lady which mystery you will do.

I highly, highly recommend the Rosary CD by Gretchen Harris. VERY very well done, it’s just perfect! The mysteries are said simply and reverently, and there’s the lightest background music that’s soft and unobtrusive while the Rosary is being said. It contains all four sets of mysteries, and she has a different priest say the rosary at each set. I just love it!

I’m digging this old thread up because I have a question – “The Rosary is a Place” of WHAT? It’s not even a complete sentence…?

Help me, I don’t get it…

I play it on my iPod every night (see signature). It is very good overall. If you listen to the entire CDs it may get long. When I ripped it to iTunes, I made playlists of only the mysteries and the opening and closing prayers. It is very good for most of the discussion before each mystery. There are only two parts of two discussions I disagree with when I hear it. That is pretty good across 20 mysteries.

Oops, I just noticed this.

See my previous post and signature, it is the version played every night on Relevant Radio around 8pm.

Oh, I understand it’s played on EWTN and on a CD, I just don’t understand the title. 🙂

At the very start of the CD, Father compares the Rosary as an invisible chapel, a place we can retire to and pray, no matter where we are, or our state of mind. A quiet place, built in our minds

Hey I like that idea That’s a good way to describe how I feel when I pray it! Good job Father Groschel!
