Do you ever feel apathetic towards sinning? Like you know what you are doing is sinful and yet you do it anyway out of a complete sense of apathy.

It’s hard in life when you’re down, lonely, sad, or whatever to feel anything sometimes. I think that’s part of the problem with feeling apathetic towards sin.

Not so much any more. I’ve been praying the Rosary daily for the last month, and as a result, as tempting as some things are, I can’t kid myself any more. With so many spiritual riches at our disposal, and so many means of sanctification at hand, you’d have to be blind to be apathetic. In fact, that’s probably a sin in itself–sloth.

That’s another thing. I can’t seem to stay awake while saying the Holy Rosary or Divine Mercy Chaplet anymore. I feel like the evil one and his minions are have a hand in this. Or maybe that’s just my thinking in order to blaim it on something else besides myself.

First, I have also had on occasion the same apathy you mentioned, even very recently infact. What is worse is when I’m apathetic about the sin (as in, I didn’t really want to sin, nor did I not want to, just didn’t care) and didn’t feel a great deal of guilt over it. So I sympathise.

Second, when are you saying the rosary? I try not to say it before going to bed, because I end up falling asleep while praying it (although that is nice in it’s own way - I start dreaming about saying the rosary). Since I fall asleep saying it in the morning too (and then I’m late for work), I usually say it in the middle of my day when I’m most awake and sometimes pray it while taking a walk in the woods.

So find a time when you are most awake and do something while saying it like taking a walk, cleaning, driving to work) to keep your mind active. 👍

Lady,

I usually say it at night before going to sleep, or while going to sleep 😉 I just started a new job, so I haven’t dared trying to take the time to meditate in the middle of the office day. Trying it in the car is a good idea, but I tend to miss my exits when I do that 😉

I do recognize 3 p.m. everyday though, in some way or another meditating on Christ’s Passion.

It was so much easier to pray and keep a good schedule of fasting, etc. when I wasn’t working.
