I read there was a battle in heaven, St Michael beat Satan and all his followers. Satan and his demon followers were cast to the earth. (God had made the universe and the earth for Jesus, so I have read. And Satan was jelous, he wanted the earth and all the universe, so he, Satan, tried to take over. Thats why he got thrown out of heaven. He wanted what God had made for Jesus…O.K.?

To the question, Satan and the demons were cast to the earth. So that means they were not thrown into hell…is that correct?

I read in the great Exorcist’s book ( G. Amorth) that some demons upon an exorcism do actually say they’d rather be in hell than to face the Holy Spirit or the spirit of Mary. But demons asked Jesus ,“Why do you torture us before our time”, meaning the demons will be on the earth until Judgement.( before our time) Is that correct?

The Church has no definitive interpretation of this passage, but according to Catholic end-times expert David Currie, this event points to the defeat of Satan effected by the Passion, death and Resurrection of Christ. Before this, Satan ruled the earth by virtue of the power he held over men through their fear of death. When he was defeated through Christ’s victory on the Cross, this power was lost, but he still has limited influence over men (Apoc. 12:12, 17; 1 Peter 5:8-9) until the Second Coming of Christ. At that time he and his will be thrown into hell for eternity (Apoc. 20:7-10).

Currie’s book on this, “Rapture,” is mostly about refuting the “Left Behind” type of theology, but it has a large segment dedicated to the Apocalypse. You can view it here:

I’d also recommend the Navarre Bible Commentary on the Book of Revelation, available at most Catholic bookstores, or Scott Hahn’s monumental tape series on The Book of Revelation, entitled “The End” which also now has a comprehensive study guide. Both are availabe at www.saintjoe.com.

The answer MAY be found @www.istheBeast.com, a very solid interpretation with deep insight. Even explains how the Beast may have got to Heaven…IHS Daryl …I’ll but a ticket to see that on the Big Screen.
