Gus Lloyd has a little booklet called A minute in the Church. It is a collection of teachings on about 37 topics, and each take about one minute to read. It is available on his website, guslloyd.com. It also contains references to scripture and the catacism.

Three little books by Patrick Madrid are helpful for discussions with Protestants.

Answer Me This!
Where is that in the Bible?
Why is that in Tradition?

By far the best apologetics book I can recommend is Catholic Christianity by Peter Kreeft. It is insightful, comprehensive, and easy to read and understand. As a convert of six years myself, I can say that it answered all the customary questions, and not so customary questions. that most non-Catholics have, including myself before my conversion. The Surprised By Truth series is interesting and compelling, but they are just a compilation of conversion stories, which I personally don’t regard as apologetics.

This book is considered by many priests to be one of the greatest books of our time. Peter Kreeft is amazing.

What is seriously missing in this question is, is the level of apologetics the person needs at this point in thier journey. Is this question looking for a good book for people who have been Catholic either their whole live, or for many years? OR is this book for someone who is questioning their own faith to become Catholic. I remember when I was becoming Catholic, the BEST books to answer my questions where the “Surprised by Truth” books…yes not deep in theology, but does answer and soothe problems that new converts struggle with…“what will my family and friends do if I make this decision?” How did a presbyterian minister make that plunge? Why is my church wrong and the Catholic Church right? These questions are simply answered by people who were on the journey, you can feel yourself being at ease with your decision to become Catholic. It is not JUST stories, they go through each person’s account on how they believed what they DID and how they came to the conclusion that brought them home. Rome Sweet Home was great too, but Scott Hahn, although wonderful and the gold standard in apologetics writes above many average people’s heads…I remember them talking about a Monstrance (Total foreign word at the time) there are other apologetic books for people who are ready to have a “mano a mano” with some friendly Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses at their door, or pointing out the truths to people who are absolutely convinced that they know the truth…the worst is the people who will let you know they “went to Catholic school” and therefore KNOW what they’re talking about. the books needed then are “Catholicism and Fundamentalism” “Stranger’s at Your Door” “Where’s That in the Bible”… Other really short but great since they go through each topic you could face is the “Beginning Apologetics” series by Fr. Frank Chacon and Jim Burnham, Sorry I went on, But your current level of understanding really is the guide on who and what to read.
