We just had our Church Festival this past weekend, and we added an apologetics booth this year. I did not know what to expect, but all and all I think it went very well. The weather was perfect and we had a record crowd.

We gave out all of the122 Rosaries my wife and I made, with instructions on how to pray it and a CD they could use to pray along with.

I figure we handed out over 300 CDs about the Catholic Faith and maybe 200 pamphlets. I’m too tired to count them all right now.

We didn’t get may questions, but the few we had I feel we were able to answer in a way that really helped that person.

It was alot of work but I would do it again in a heart beat, and plan too.

That’s really awesome!
I want to recommend this idea this year at our parish festival!

Thanks for sharing your experience and ideas!🙂

Thank you…

It was slow at many times during the weekend, but when you have someone come to the booth who just got out of jail and wants to change his life to be a better dad to his little boy or a few women who are suddenly single parents and need some encouragement and some extra prayers. Parents who want to teach their children how to pray the Rosary, or even an old friend who has many questions about the Catholic Faith that otherwise they might never had asked about and left the Catholic Church for another religion it makes it all worth while.

I may never know if I really helped anyone but I’m happy to say I’m at least trying.

WELL DONE…was this festival at the Parish?
I am going to make a similar suggestion!

Yes it was our parish festival… St Catharine of Siena
Some people think we had such a nice weekend because of the Rosaries we gave out. I can’t say for sure but this might be a selling point to your festival comity. HEHEHE

I know we spell Catharine differently than most but we’ve been doing that for over 100 years so I don’t think we will change. Besides it’s in stone infront of the school so it’s late to change.

I think our spelling might have something to do with German heritage on Westside of Cincinnati, but that’s just a guess.

Good luck let me know what they say.

Awesome idea. Good for you for taking initiative and going for it!

We did this at my church for the parish festival last summer. It was a big hit for us, as well. I will probably work at the booth again this year since I am on the evangelization committee.

Kermit, how hard was this to fund and arrange? Do you feel this is something that could be done at other times, with no special occasion going on around it? I’m really interested in the idea of “street preaching,” and feel we’ve let the evangelicals monopolize this territory for too long.

That sounds like a great idea I agree we Catholics don’t do enough of this. If ‘‘street preaching’’ works for the evangelicals then it should work for The One True Church. The USA needs more Catholic missionaries.

I put at lot of time an effort into this first year, but I think it will be alittle easier from now on. I think the most helpful thing I did was start a Thread about an Apologetic Booth at Church Festival. I listed my ideas and asked if others had done the same. I got a lot of great help from replies.

I was able to get a couple sponsors for the booth which helped, then my Parish Priest told me at the festival to let him know what other expenses there where and he would reimburse me. I was not counting that.

My wife and I made twine Rosaries to hand out. They cost less than $0.25 each to make, but they take time. At first it took me about 45 min to 1 hr to make one, now I can make one in about 30 min. Something to do while we watched TV www.rosarytwine.com

My Priest ordered some of the pamphlets from Our Sunday Visitor www.osv.com
Others came from a friend at Presentation Ministries www.presentationministries.com

Ask friends in your parish for help I think many Catholics want to help but just need alittle push. I had many people ask me to teach them how to make the twine Rosaries after they saw what we were trying to do with the apologetics booth.

If I can do it anyone can.

I hope this helps.
