I am currently student teaching at a highschool and I was wearing my crucfix necklace yesterday. One of the guys in the class came over and complimented my gold necklace and then he showed my his crucifix. He called it his trinket, I corrected him and told him it is called a crucfix. His girlfriend then came over and said, “You should stop keeping Jesus on the cross, he died and was burried in a tomb a long time ago.” I thought she was a non-Catholic Christian, so I corrected her by saying, “We do not wear crucifixes because we think he’s still on the cross, we wear them because they remind us of what he did for us.” Then she got snobby and said, “That’s what you think.” Her boyfriend then told me not to worry about it, she’s Jewish. So now I know I’m going to need some apologetics for questions brought up by Jewish people.

I know that there is the sepearation of church and state, but I see students wearing Pentacles, Celtic knots, and gay pride stuff, so if they can make a statement and not get in trouble, I think I can too. I’m not telling the students to pray and I’m not forcing my beliefs on them. If someone asks a question about my religious beliefs, I give them answers, that’s all. I haven’t gotten in trouble for wearing a crucifix yet, I’m hoping that I won’t, because I feel that if the students can wear their stuff, I can wear mine.

(a) Be careful. The world is becoming increasingly anti-Catholic. You are liable to lose your job for talking Catholic.

(2) Re Judaism, the answer of Christianity is simple: Christianity is foreshadowed in Hebrew/Jewish Scriptures to an overwhelming extent, that in my opinion is shattering to many Jews.

When God condemns the serpent in Genesis, He tells the serpent…
“**15 **I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will strike at your head, while you strike at his heel.” Genesis 3:15.
That is a foreshadowing of the cross piercing the dust at “Skull Place” ("…He will strike at your head…") while Jesus feet are nailed to the cross ("…while you strike at his heel…").

When Isaac rides a donkey to Moriah, carries the wood of his own sacrifice, lays on it to be sacrificed, and then a ram with his head in a thicket is laid on the wood and sacriced…
"**2 ****Then God said: “Take your son Isaac, your only one, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. ****3 ****Early the next morning Abraham saddled his donkey, took with him his son Isaac,… ****6 ****Thereupon Abraham took the wood for the holocaust and laid it on his son Isaac’s shoulders, while he himself carried the fire and the knife. ****9 ****When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. Next he tied up his son Isaac, and put him on top of the wood on the altar. **
**10 ****Then he reached out and took the knife to slaughter his son. ****11 ****But the LORD’S messenger called to him from heaven, “Abraham, Abraham!” “Yes, Lord,” he answered. ****12 ****“Do not lay your hand on the boy,” said the messenger. “Do not do the least thing to him. I know now how devoted you are to God, since you did not withhold from me your own beloved son.” ****13 **As Abraham looked about, he spied a ram caught by its horns in the thicket. So he went and took the ram and offered it up as a holocaust in place of his son.” Genesis 22:2-13…that is a picture of Christ’s messianic entry into Jerusalem on the back of an *** “**go to the land of Moriah. ****3 **Early the next morning Abraham saddled his donkey, took with him his son Isaac”], the way of the cross “Thereupon Abraham took the wood for the holocaust and laid it on his son Isaac’s shoulders”], and then the nailing to the cross “**he tied up his son Isaac, and put him on top of the wood **”] and finally the crucifixion of the one crowned with a crown of thorns “As Abraham looked about, he spied a ram caught by its horns in the thicket. So he went and took the ram and offered it up as a holocaust in place of his son”].

When Absalom is riding on a mule and gets his hair caught in a tree and he hangs there and then Joab stabs him in the side with a spear and then buries him under stone,…
“**9 ****Absalom…was mounted on a mule, and, as the mule passed under the branches of a large terebinth, his hair caught fast in the tree. He hung between heaven and earth while the mule he had been riding ran off…****14 ****Joab replied, “I will not waste time with you in this way.” And taking three pikes in hand, he thrust for the heart of Absalom, still hanging from the tree alive…****17 **Absalom was taken up and cast into a deep pit in the forest, and a very large mound of stones was erected over him.” 2 Samuel 18:9-17.
…that is a picture of the King of Peace “Absalom”] riding an *** into Jerusalm at the time of His messianic entry “was mounted on a mule”] and having a crown of thorns pressed into His head “his hair caught fast in the tree”] and a soldier stabbing Christ in the side with a spear as Christ hung on the cross “And taking three pikes in hand, he thrust for the heart of Absalom, still hanging from the tree alive”] and buried in a stone tomb “Absalom was taken up and cast into a deep pit in the forest, and a very large mound of stones was erected over him”].

There are many of these.

LOL. I see that the program even flags *Biblical *uses of the word “a s s” (spaced so that the program won’t catch it.

what’s wrong with Celtic knots?

If they are seen as art, nothing. But the students embrace them in New Age sprituality, that is what I meant. If they can wear new age stuff, I can wear a crucfix. If they say off with the crucfix, I’ll say off with the new age stuff.

Yo RedDM keep the cross around your neck. It is a good thing to shine in the face of those GAP’s, confused kids and especially those liberal teachers, it is a sign of pride and Christian. You might take heat from it, but guess what all thoughout my HS and early college (both public) there were teachers who spoke openly about God and Jesus, not in a preaching way, but would drop hints here and there, and it helped people like me. They were able to do it in such a way that nobody could touch them, and they were fine about it. The truth is there are a lot of kids who are relieved to see it too, even though they dont say anything. It is a good feeling knowing that your teacher has morals and guidance that cannot be obtained without Christianity.

And when students challege you like that, say the same thing you told that guy. Be ready to turn it around on him. and as usual be in places like CA for questions.

Does anyone have any links to sites that have apologetics for Jews?
