Apologist?

Can someone explain to me what an Apologist is? From what I can tell they are Catholic Evangalists…in a manner of speaking. They speak the Truth, they know what they speak…Am I wrong in comparing it to Evangalists?

Evangelists spread the Gospel message while apologists defend the teachings of the Gospel. The apologist may evangelize by what he does but his focus is not on preaching but on explaining Church teachings.

Here’s how I look at it: Evangelization is spreading the Truth. Apologetics is answering any objections made to that Truth. They go hand in hand.
