Apostolic Succession

Hey all,

A friend of mine has contacted me asking for resources which document apostolic succession and detail the formation of the early Church, including an exploration of the work of the apostles and the communities to which they brought the church, as well as the different rites of the church that developed from these areas.

Any books you can recommend would be good, but any online resources would be even better.
