I still think there would be a point to the visit that would be good not just for this guy’s spirituality, but it would have to be much more than that for an angel to come pop over.

I agree that it is very strange that the angel didn’t say anything other than “Hey. I’m Michael. You know, the archangel? Cool. Later tater.” and then your nephew went on to post it on facebook.
As I said before, unless he starts spouting off something that could lead to another Book of Mormon, or begins communicating things that contradict core doctrines of Christianity, and Catholicism in particular, that it is probably not something to worry about. At the very least, it seems to have strengthened his faith in the short term.
