I am applying to a variety of Catholic colleges in order to help grow in my educational life and spiritual life, but a thought just occurred to me. Will any of these schools treat my application differently because my parents are divorced?
One school in particular, which is at the top of my list, is known for their unity with the Magisterium of the Church. The professors (and admission staff I suspect) have the same traditional beliefs as the student body. The school does not accept government aid, which gives them more protections to decide who they will accept into the school.
I am not my parents. Most of the time, I am the one bringing each of them to Church rather than the other way around. Thanks for reading, and I can provide additional details if needed.

I can’t think of why they would? As you say, you are not your parents.

May I ask how the question has even come up?

That is, are there specific college admissions documents that have asked you to specify something like this? Or in writing a scholarship application, does it seem relevant to the type of scholarship to mention your family situation?

In this day and age, it is unlikely that your having divorced parents is going to pose any problem to your admission.
100 years ago, it might have been a problem, but I think nowadays, and especially up at the college level, it should be a non-issue.

Thank you for your response. The school I was describing uses their own application software, which of course asks for parental information. I am applying for a merit scholarship there as well, but I do not believe the essay prompts ask anything about family life.
