You’ve got alot of room to talk when regardless of said doctrines, your church is the biggest propagator of homosexuality the world has ever known:blush:
While I don’t want to tackle the homosexuality perpetrator part of your statement, I’ll agree with you that calling the Anglican Church “Henry’s Church” is just plain silly. The modern Anglican Church we know owes more to the Elizabethan period and Thomas Cranmer, Ridley, and company than it does to Henry. The “Church of Henry” used Latin, incense, and looked every bit as Catholic as the Vatican itself. The key is Church of ENGLAND, not Church of Henry. I find it humerous that the poster in question got fuming angry when people called Roman Catholics “Romans” and yet he says things like “Church of Henry” without so much as a thought about how insulting that is 🤷

I don’t find it insulting, myself, but inaccurate.

Sometimes the two can go hand in hand, GKC. Illogical statements whether they be racist, sexist, or just plain boloney can serve a dual purpose. I tend toward the inaccurate vantage point as well. But my point was that the poster to which Justy was replying got really angry when someone called Catholics “Romans.” Why is it insulting to call Catholics “Romans” but it’s ok to tall Anglicans the “Church of Henry.” I hope you see my point in general…Right now it’s more the “Church of Duncan” for the ACNA lol and in the case of the Episcopal Church the “Church of Barnum and Bailey”

Dear Canadian Colleague,

I can well imagine your shock at my comment, howandever, you have only yourself to blame!
In the area where I live, amongst the descendants of refugees from the Irish Famine, the clerics of your denomination oftimes hand out copies of the Creed of Pius the 1Vth. I should like to point out that producing a new creed is an infraction of the Canons of Nice!] In the message imparted by this document is a statement to be accepted by all members of your Church.

**“I acknowledge the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Roman Church as the Mother and Mistress of all Churches and I promise true obedience to the Bishop of Rome.” **

The fault lies at your feet, you joined and you must choose to suffer this way!

There are some comments made by various dignitaries of that group broadcasting to the world the uniqueness of that title and term as well as the aptness of its use, that would disquiet you, so I will leave them out!

Rest assured such people are still Catholics, but …! Roman, Romanist, Romish stays!!!

Very well put my friend. It just seems pointless for one to attack over and over again trying to get the speck out of someone else’s eye while ignoring the tree in their own. By calling the Anglican church the ‘church of Henry’, I believe the responder’s sole intention was to insult. As you well know, I have the ultimate respect for those who know how to respect, regardless of denomination.

I remember, when I was an Anglican years back, I invited a Roman Catholic friend to worship with us. She came and enjoyed the experience greatly. At coffee hour afterward, she met our bishop, the great John David Schofield. He went to shake hands with her and she commented, “I’m just visiting. I’m a Roman” to which Bishop John-David replied, “we love Romans here!” She was the one using the term Roman? lol

Rome/Roman, in this context, is certainly historical and accurate. Romish/Romanist is usually ni kulturni.

folks,I referred to the Anglican Church out of self amusement and humour .If any here are offended i do sincerely apologise.I will not dignify the accusation of the Holy Catholic Church being the biggest propagator of homosexuality.Such an accusation is contemptible and God will deal with the miscreants who have hidden within the Body Of Christ.

However call me Romish in person on the street and I will blacken that person’s eye(that would be the Irish in me).I happen to be a Roman Catholic, originally an insult propagated by the adherents of the Church of England, but we are but one of dozens of Rites within the Holy Catholic Church.I’m sure a Ukranian,or a moronite might ogject to being called Roman Catholic.
