Agreed, I found the post funny as well, for the exact same reasons, because there are extremist out there who seem to think it’s true.
Sadly there are people, some of them here, for whom my theatrical description is true. It just was not fair, or true, of me to suggest that was a majority, or official, Catholic view.

Incidentally, I am a man. Mcteague is the title of a book, and the name of the lead character, by Frank Norris. Norris was of the naturalist school. Think Jack London or
Emil Zola. It is a wonderful story of how people can be corrupted. It was made into a very famous silent film. “Greed” by Eric Von Strohiem.
I definitely recommend it. It is a great read.
  • probably not for children. No sex that I remember, but some graphic violence
To the OP if she reads this. I am glad some people were able to help you. Please don’t ever think that any question you ask stirs up a hornets nest. Many of us here actually enjoy a little lively discourse. Please feel open to ask any thing you wish.

I know there are whackadoos like this out in the world - just like the congregation at Westboro was being perfectly straight-faced when it said “God hates fags”. That is why I do not laugh, but correct. It’s depressing to me, not laughable, because I am aware of the wide scope of idiocy on all sides of religion.

On the other hand, I discovered a few things that made me almost ecstatic with joy. Has anyone ever heard of an atheist conservative ? 😃 Or, even better, an atheist pro-lifer?😃

It seems that you are supposed to breed until you die in childbirth. People will lay flowers on your grave. They will say you made the supreme sacrifice and that you were a good Christian woman.
This is how it was for most woman for centuries. This is what some people here want to return to. Sorry you were born female. People here want you to believe that this is all you are good for. And that your life means nothing except as a perpetual breeding machine
Most people in Church just ignore extremist views like this. And just try to live good lives.
I suggest you do the same. It would be nice to see your grandchildren one day.
This is not the teaching of the Catholic Church at all. The church teaches that married couples are to be open to life throughout their marriage. You may recall that the Priest asks the couple if they will be open to life at the beginning of the wedding. It’s a condition of Catholic marriage.

This does not mean that Catholic couples are to “breed until you die”. The church does teach that couples are to be responsible about having children.

In the teachings of Theology of the Body and Natural Family Planning (NFP) couples are encouraged to discuss regularly how they feel about having any/more children. If they wish to avoid more children at that time they are to abstain from sex when the woman is fertile.
