Are arguments mortally sinful?

Hey everyone. I ended up in a big argument with a friend earlier today. Are arguments mortally sinful?

I tried very hard not to let my anger get the best of me but I may have let it get the best of me at times. I am really not certain. I was trying to restrain myself as much as possible. I kept trying to get off the phone but my friend refused to let me hang up and if I did hang up, he’d call me right back until I answered. I am thinking that I did not commit a mortal sin but I am honestly not sure.
 
I talked to my spiritual director and he told me that I did not commit a mortal sin. I am so thankful! 🙂

It’s been tremendously helpful to me in arguments of all sorts…not just Faith-based. 🙂

And if this person was pestering you for debate against your wishes, I recommend the book “Boundaries” by Drs. Cloud and Twonsend.
