Are Christian churches much more closed-off than other religions' places of worship?

Great wisdoms, Kouyate! In my new Mega-Parish which is in a well-to-do Suburb, The Problem Person has been a Highly Self-centered Jealous of her ‘power’ Top aide to our Pastor. She has defamed me falselly to our Pastor, to Retain her “Power #1” position. I pray for her. and many Parish leaders have expressed her “Controlling” attitude. She has been removed from 2 organizations by the Presidents of those organizations for Not abiding by Policies. I pray for her. She began as Highly Knowledgeable and Devout, but now has begun to be very destructive to Diocesan policies. Best thing to do with these Self-Importance problem people is Model Proper Attitude to her and the Pastor, and Pray for Her. :gopray::knight1:

Live our Lord; Example Him and Our Faith is Best Evangelization to others who are weak. We show the Greatest Strength in Helping, praying for Others. :hey_bud::knight1::getholy: Living our Faith, always, everywhere is the greatest way to Evangelize, without trying. That is how Many of those who Died for Christ in the Colliseum resulted in Large number of Converts. Saying "Thanks for Serving" to a Wounded Veteran is a rare compliment they treasure.

My cloeset friend [former teacher] and my mentor for more than 50 years left the Bothers of Holy Cross, who too went very liberal.

I LOVE ather Mitch’s Mass and homilies And it’s GREAT seeing Jesuit who actually IS a Jesuit:)

God Bless you,
Pat.
My Secular Sister left her Convent in the Confusion of the 1970’s, when “New” innappropriate people’s ideas took hold. I prefer[SIGN] Post Vatican II Confusion[/SIGN], instead of the ‘liberal’ “political” term (as defined by Fr Groeschell so wiselly, not appropriate often in Religion). Fr defined Each political term ideally: ‘Liberal’, is searching for best ideas, and open to ideas, seeking change; ‘Conservative’, means seeking, controlling, protecting power and wealth as I recall. Fr Pacwa was Chosen by Mother Angelica to fill in for her; and is Indeed as Great a Teacher, Definitive Jesuit historic 500 years Teaching brilliance, as Mother Angelica Reruns are; handicapped by not having her Humor. I can’t miss his EWTN Live, for the New Learnings: The “Sign of Peace” was Begun by the Apostles as the then eastern face touching Greeting, Cardinals and The Pope continue symbolically.

Vivat Jesu, Pat

I left my previous worship team and my previous church for precisely the reason that I felt that the church as a whole was in the thrall of a handful of people. Not just in the running of the church mind, but even the teaching seemed tailored to suit the needs of this small, highly conservative group.

Prime example was a series of lectures we did on controversial topics, including abortion and birth control, war and pacifism etc. One of these was evolution and creationism, and it was clear from the lecture that it wasn’t about presenting the case for evolution and creationism, it was about appeasing the conservative group, most of which believed in some sort of creationism.

The worship team also suffered from this closed-off attitude. When I joined, everyone in the band were all good friends and treated the newcomer with something of disdain. During practices I often came across songs I didn’t know but the rest of the band knew, and I was often treated pretty rawly for asking questions, getting things wrong and not knowing stuff. I also found it difficult to relate to other band members and eventually I’d had enough and quit.

It’s lay workers who really do stuff in church!
