Are deacons forever?

I shared your post with one of the deacons at our parish this morning and he simply said he is not aware of any distinction (division?) in the theology around permanent and transitory deacons among his colleagues. He also said (with a wink) that we all need to guard against pride hidden under the guise of humility.

Edited by me several times trying to reflect as accurately as I can my friend’s comments since I am relying on memory of a conversation several hours earlier PLUS I am a lousy typist

Along the lines of the supposed “distinction,” I have friends who are permanent deacons who think it inappropriate that - despite the fact that there is only one order of the diaconate - transitional deacons are called “Rev. Mr.,” while permanent deacons are called “Deacon.” It’s like permanent deacons are considered second-class deacons.

I can think of several things.
1 baptism
2 murder
3 suicide
4 Marriage
Ugly tattoos
Etc

Me too, but… Rejoice! If you are Baptized, you are also a Priest.
Remember in the mass all the Laity offer Sacrifice to GOD.
Which is something that in the Old Testament only the tribe of Levite could do.
Peace!
