Are "friendly coups" a thing?

We’ve all heard of the “hostile coup” whether literal as in a country’s leader ousted by force or figuratively when a corporate board oust the founding CEO. I’d always assumed a coup is hostile by definition and found the adjective redundant.

Is there such a thing as a “friendly coup”? What does one look like?

It could be said the USA has one every 4-8 years, with the peaceful transfer of presidential power
