Are mass novenas selling the mass?

When a church offers a novena for Father’s Day or Christmas, etc, and you can send a mass card to each person, and you make a contribution, so that many many people are remembered at the mass, is the Mass then being sold? For each mass has one stipend due for it. To receive several stipends for one mass, what is the rationale, and is it valid? How does the church view this and what is correct?
