I hope I am not asking a dangerous question :p, but I am curious what Catholic men and women think!

Feel free to elaborate after voting! 🙂

I think both sexs are equal, but some sexs have certain biological traits that make them better for certain things then another.
I think that the traditional family of father working outside for income, mother working domestically inside the family structure works the best. But this is not always the case and I know allot of succesful families that are 1 parent, both parent working, or dad stays home mom works or any combination of that.

Of course men and women are different: one quick look will tell us that. As I learned in biology, form and function are interrelated; that is, the form that something is in can tell us something about its function. Therefore, it is not surprising to discover that men and women have different physical functions. If we continue in this way, I expect that we would find many other differences.

But things can be different yet also of equal value. As an example, in a rear wheel drive car which is more important, the front wheels or the back wheels?

Or, in the body which is more important, the heart or the brain?

(These examples are by no means perfect; I’m sure someone will be able to prove how much they lack)

Ohhhhh yes we are different! That makes me extremely happy.

Will be married 50 years next month and my guy is all man.

I happen to work for the Welfare Dept. and see men every day of the week who have no male ego left. Someone destroyed it long ago. And I see women and girls with no value for who they are.
Prior to this job, I was at Child Support Services and saw evidence of poor female value when 15 year olds were having babies and 4 or 5 guys had to have paternity tests to establish who daddy is.

Isn’t about time, we start teaching our sons to be men and our daughters the meaning of being female?

:clapping: :dancing: 👋 I am so glad you said that!Men have been so bellittled in their manhood and even viciously attack by radical feminism it is sad.The same forces have reduced females and feminine to angry women and girls who despise being female. The whole ficticious argument that since a women can be impregnated after having sexual relations is a bad thing has pulled us into the trenches.God Bless

How are men belittled?
I am speaking of the radical feminism attitude, and all the negativity towards men. They generalise all the negative things that men have done since the begining of time and put that on all men.The radical feminist tell men we no longer need you and show a deep contempt for them.I have a friend who won’t let a guy open the door for her in public even a stranger who is trying to be polite.Their anger for whatever reason has set up a very real hostility between the sexes. The guys really don’t know how to act around females anymore,if you treat her like a lady you will be accused of thinking she is infirior.God Bless

They are radical feminists, which are a minority, thank-God. I don’t think the attitudes of a few kooks belittle men.

My husband and I are VERY different people with different interests and tastes. Thank goodness! Gee, I’d hate to be married to someone just like me! All our differences keep it interesting. But our basic principles are the same.

Watch prime time TV and you will get a sense of it.

That probably is part of my ignorance on the subject. While we DO watch too much T.V in this house, it’s usually “Discovery”,“History Channel”, etc.

As many of you have learned from my posts on this topic in other threads, I believe we are all unique and blessed by God with unique combinations of gifts/talents. Are men and women different? If you hadn’t noticed move away from the the typewriter and out into the world. However, I HATE the tendency people seem to have to want to lump people by some given trait and then put everyone with that same trait in a ziploc bag, seal it and claim they’re all the same.\

One of the most eye-opening experinces for me on this issue was having children. I had two girls within 19 months of each other. They have the same parents, same home environment and are roughly the same age. They couldn’t be more different. One is very “girly” plays house, dress up, is quiet and rather reserved, loves to do art, help me cook, etc. The other is a great athlete, a whiz at math, a social butterfly and a daredevil who loves to try/take on new challenges. I would never discourage my athletic, academically gifted child to sit back and not fulfill her potential even if it takes her in non-traditional directions. I have always been grateful to have had them both so close together, because had I had a girl, then a boy, my tendency would have been to attribute their differences to gender alone.

Hey Cove! You took the words right out of my mouth. I was going to suggest that those who don’t believe that men are being belittled today should watch some prime time sitcoms and watch for this.

I agree that ‘feminism’ has debased the role of men in our society. Remember the slogan, a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle? As women have moved into the workforce (and I am one of them) and as they have established themselves in almost all professions, one of the major roles for men, breadwinner has diminished. Now I also believe there are plenty of men who now look at their wives as little earners on heels but had we not changed our outlook on male/female roles, I don’t think men would look at women in the same way. We’ve divorced having children from needing a man to support the family and being the fearless leader of the family so to speak. Again, there are also men who’ve abdicated their role but we let them didn’t we? THere is another thread on this board “What happened to shotgun weddings?” You know I think we no longer believe that a man owes a woman he got pregnant anything. Birth control and our control just adds to the woman’s responsibility load.

I think both men and women have individuals who are brilliantly intelligent, talented musically or artistically, coordinated and athletic. etc. However men are physically stronger and IMO more courageous. I just don’t see women on the battlefield for example. I think women in general are more natural at nurturing. I think boys are more active, more analytical as far as figures and facts while women are better at seeing relationships not only among people but among elements such as words and numbers.

Well I’m probably rambling but listening to of all people, Dr Laura completely changed my mind about male/female roles.

LisaN I completely agree with you.The differences in the sexes were meant to be complimentary of each other. The roles have been so changed the outcome has been disasterous.God Bless

I have never seen evil that comes close to that shown by my wife’s cold acts. Unless it is from those priests and bishops who support her and her lover as well.

So I guess there is very little difference.

Perhaps real love makes us different but hatred makes us the same.
