wow whyme you should stop spending time on mormon nonsense and study your own faith.

You can begin with who “I AM” is.

Go back and look at the threads and see the antimormonism. Usually such threads were started by catholics. It is not a glass house discussion. As has been said on mormon boards there are always answers to critic opinions about the lds church.
If Mormons didn’t show up repeating the Catholic Church is false, I don’t believe it would have happened. Let’s use Messianic Judaism as an example. How much is being said against them? Show me the anti-Messianic Judaism going on. I saw my first Jehovah’s Witness, thread since I joined, yesterday. It seems to have played out as quick as it started. Protestants are received well, until they start in on the Catholic Church is false. Without being challenged, there is only spiritual discussions and dialogue about differences. It goes beyond that when posters constantly attack the Catholic Church.

To continue, over and over and over again, repeatedly stating the Catholic Church is false, along with anything else we say, one can only suspect the brainwasher is here to proseltyze. It’s that simple, in my opinion.

You don’t walk into someone’s house and immediately start in on how wrong and false they are and think there won’t be a defense put up.

To show the imperfection of the bible, in John 5: 46 it states that Moses wrote about Jesus but yet there is no such record in the bible. And yet, mormons have the book of moses. Could this be what Jesus is talking about? It can seem so.

Jesus claims that Moses wrote about him. Where? It’s a shame he didn’t give us chapter and verse.

Is this it below?

scriptures.lds.org/en/moses/contents
Genesis 3:15 I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall cursh thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.

**Num 24:17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not near. A STAR SHALL RISE out of Jacob and a sceptre shall spring up from Israel: and shall strike the chiefs of Moab, and shall waste all the children of Seth **

Deu 18:15 The Lord thy God will raise up to thee a PROPHET of thy nation and of thy brethren like unto me: him thou shalt hear:

Gen 12:3 I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee, and IN THEE shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

Gen 49:10 The sceptre shall not be taken away from Juda, nor a ruler from his thigh, till he come that is to be sent, and he shall be the expectation of nations.

Edited to add the Catholic commentary on John 5:45 - 47:
45-47. The accuser of the Jews shall not be Jesus but Moses in whom they have set their hope, but whom notwithstanding they refuse to believe. If they believed Moses, they would believe the Christ of whom Moses wrote, when he recorded the words on the Seed of the woman, Gen_3:15, the blessing of Abraham, 12:3, the heir of the sceptre of Juda, 49:10, the Star arising out of Jacob, Num_24:17, the great Prophet, Deu_18:15. How can disciples of Moses, 9:28, who pride themselves on their knowledge of the written word, 7:49, and yet do not really believe it, have faith in the mere spoken words of Jesus? Let us remember that Jewish Scribes and Pharisees were worshippers of the letter, 2 Cor 3.
Jesus told the Jews their problem.

Joh 5:39 Search the scriptures: for you think in them to have life everlasting. And the same are they that give testimony of me.

I would bet my cowboy boots that mormons have more in common with christianity than most protestant churches.
Hello why me,

Why are you posting in bare feet ??? Where did your boots go ??? :)🙂

Peace,

Are Mormons part of the Christian family? NO.

No trinity, belief in apostasy of the Church, invalid baptism, false supplements to the Bible, false prophets, claims that God the Father is flesh, mother goddess talk, spirit babies, inheriting solar systems, celestial marriages, and belief that the Bible was improperly translated where convenient points to serious heresy and a fundamental departure from the faith. The idea that Jesus was an evolved man and the concept of who Christ is in Mormonism is a million miles from orthodoxy.

My answer is no way.

Hi, all,
I doubt if anyone has really figured out what a Christian is or how a Christian acts by reading this thread. Christ taught “of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” Thank goodness for people like Christine, who can show Catholics how to be a real Christian in deed rather than in what one calls oneself. Peace to all.

Thanks again, Christine, for your example of kindness in the midst of sharing differing beliefs and asking sincere questions. You are a true follower of Christ.🙂

I still have my boots. But when a person thinks about it, many protestant sects have gay unions, women priests, abortion on demand policies etc. Far from what the catholics would consider christian. But then again, I am not in the business in telling a sect that they are not christian. 🙂

Good quotation ParkerD. Now if we could get some of the posters to follow it!! 🙂

No one has the authority to judge or condemn another. That belongs to Christ. It a Catholic’s, hope that in God’s gracious economy, there are true believers in all walks of life and all will be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

I believe this thread has deteriorated beyond what I’ve said above and I apologize for any wrong on my part.

While I don’t view Joseph Smith as sacred, or anymore than a man, I do not suppose myself to think like the Lord and cannot say the disposition of his soul.

If there’s anything to be learned from the discussion of this thread, it is, Catholic and Mormons are vastly different.

I’ll be completely honest here. Mormonism is a very foreign concept to me and it appears Catholicism is foreign to most Mormons posting here. With that stated, it’s apparent we both are driven to respond with our human natures when someone speaks against those things we hold sacred. For instance, if a Mormon can see nothing wrong with speaking ill of the Catholic Church, a Catholic can see nothing wrong in questioning Joseph Smith, temple ceremonies or any other Mormon beliefs. Why is what Catholics hold sacred, any less sacred than what Mormons hold sacred?

If Mormons want to question those things Catholics hold sacred, there’s nothing wrong with it, as long as it’s done honestly and respectfully. Calling the Catholic Church “apostate”, or saying it’s so totally corrupt as to have lost it’s authority and priesthood, is sacrilegious in the eyes of a Catholic. If a Mormon cannot see that, the feeling is, a door has been opened for me to express my feelings in return, which includes questioning anything about Mormonism in return. I know this imposes boundaries, not on what can be discussed, but how it is discussed.

Being totally honest again, I feel, when a Mormon comes to a Catholic forum and begins a conversation with, or continually repeats, accusations the Catholic Church being apostate or so totally corrupt as to have lost it’s authority, it’s for the purposes of planting seeds of doubt for proselytizing. It certainly appears Mormons are too opinionated about what they think they know about Catholicism, to be here for “learning about the Catholic faith”. I feel we both know why they don’t just come out and say it. It’s against the rules and they would be banned if they admit it. That thought alone makes me view most Mormon visitors as not to be trusted. I do not believe in “lying for the Lord”. The Apostles didn’t do it and the early Church fathers didn’t do it. They chose martyrdom instead.

If you want to truly discuss our differences, let me suggest you don’t approach it with a “our Church is superior to your Church” tone.

Again, I apologize if I’ve offended anyone with my posts and ask that you please understand, I am going to defend my faith to my maximum ability and I’m only a man who can make a mistake in how I do it.

Prodigal Son,
I appreciate your last post and your apology. Thanks. What I have been trying to do in this forum is to make it possible for those reading to not make wrong assumptions or wrong inferences from wrong information about the Mormon or LDS church or its past or present leaders.

You have a good church. It does good things. It is well to keep what you have, but not to belittle Joseph Smith or appear to say “he had it coming to him” in any way, shape or form. Christ would never have done that, and you are a follower of Christ, right? Then follow Him in word and deed! I have been direct in that remark, purposely. You may choose to be offended by it, or not. Peace to you, if you choose peace in your heart as the Savior offered it to all. He said, “Let not your heart be troubled.” May that be so. May the Bible be a lamp unto your feet.👍

I think Jesus made it quite clear that there are those who have it coming to them.

If the Church is the body of Christ, how can a “man”, or “mob”, judge it as corrupt?

**Col 1:18 He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent.

Col 1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you and fill up those things that are wanting of the sufferings of Christ, in my flesh, for his body, which is the church:

1Co 12:20 As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.
1Co 12:21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.”
1Co 12:22 On the contrary, the parts of the body which seem to be weaker are indispensable,
1Co 12:23 and those parts of the body which we think less honorable we invest with the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty,
1Co 12:24 which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving the greater honor to the inferior part,
1Co 12:25 that there may be no discord in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.
1Co 12:26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.
1Co 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

Eph 5:23 Because the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the church. He is the saviour of his body.

Eph 5:30 because we are members of his body.

Rom 12:4 For as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function,
Rom 12:5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

Co 6:15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!**
