I know I struggle with this, but are people who really support abortion truly evil? I’m not saying they are right, but evil or satanic seems harsh. Evil to me is people like the nazi’s or communists who had no regard for law. A lot of pro choice people I know aren’t like this. In fact to me they are like people who are lost. They don’t know what they do. Evil to me is when you know you are doing wrong and continue. So why such hatred. Shouldn’t we love pro choicers with open arms, but also correct them and hope they return, or should we treat this as a battle with them as the enemy and no changing sides?

i think they are more misguided than evil. but there are some sick minded people out there

It is my personal belief that people cannot be “evil”. They can commit evil acts, tempted by evil sins, but I don’t think a human can be just “evil”.

We should love pro-choicers. Read Abby Johnson book, unPlanned. Abby was a vounteer with Planned Parenthood and later a director at a PP clinic. Abby had two abortions herself. She thought she was helping women.

She realized the truth of abortion, left her job, and is active in the Pro-Life movement.

When she realized the truth, she turned to those she knew in the Pro-Life movement who prayed outside her abortion mill. They offered her love even when she was directing the clinic killing babies.

Dr. Bernard Nathanson, an obstetrician who estimated that he was involved in 75,000 abortions became pro-life and joined the Catholic Church.

Yes, we love them, we pray for them, we tell them the Truth if we have the chance.

I think the majority of them have swallowed multiple lies, but they are spreading evil. How long can they continue to lie to themselves? How is a baby better off brutally murdered, than placed with a loving family. Millions of couples cannot find a baby to adopt!

It is not civilised to kill innocent people to make our lives more comfortable. Adoption is a good option, and it gives the mother 9 months to consider her choices to parent, or adopt a family for her baby. It also testifys to the fact that her baby has great worth, and is loved!

Yes, we love them, we pray for them, we tell them the Truth if we have the chance.
And the best part is, they can be the strongest supporters on our side BECAUSE of their former life.

Always remember, we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers.

None of us are without sin. We all commit evil acts at some point in time to some degree. We all are capable of rationalization and self-deception. We are all capable of holding to positions that are logically inconsistent.

There but for the grace of God go I, and all that stuff.

So calling people “evil” or “satanic” because they support abortion is probably not the best course of action. Abortion is certainly a grave evil and we should never stop shedding light on that fact. But calling people evil is not the best way to make that case.

Yes, we love them, we pray for them, we tell them the Truth if we have the chance.
And don’t forget the “Roe” of Roe v. Wade (Morma McCorvey) and the “Doe” of Doe v. Bolton (Sandra Cano). They were the two plaintiffs of the the two Supreme Court decisions that together made abortion-on-demand the law of the land, and they are now both now pro-life advocates.

That’s the power of prayer in action, right there.

There are some who appear to have embraced an evil idea. We can’t know the motivations of each person. Look at it this way, if something is advertised as being good or beneficial, for decades, would you be more likely to support it? Or if scholars or others in authority support something, would you be most likely to support it? We need to understand what happened in this country just prior to 1973 when the Supreme Court made its decision. Has anyone read their decision?

First, a little truth:

catholicnewsagency.com/resources/abortion/articles-and-addresses/an-ex-abortionist-speaks/

As much as we are asked to love others, we need to understand that there are those that will lie to and deceive others to get what they want. It hurts me that this is true, but we have to face the facts. And we need to understand the words. Words are used to deceive us.

“Reproductive rights.” What does that mean for men and women? The answer is usually in support of abortion for any reason. That is false.

A woman who wants to reproduce does not need any right to do so. She can avoid sex entirely, but that goes against the constant, 24/7 message that all of us should be having sex whenever we want. Morality doesn’t matter - orgasms matter. So, what’s stopping any woman from not going to a bar, picking up a total stranger and having sex with him? Morality should be the answer, but we are being shown, acted out in movies and on TV, that sure, why not? After all, the woman doesn’t need a man except for sex whenever she feels like it.

This dehumanizes her and the man. You can’t call having sex like this “making love” or “sleeping with somebody,” it’s all about getting an orgasm or several and you’re done. It’s like two dogs meeting in an alley. So what if the woman gets pregnant. The life growing inside her is not a person. THAT IS THE SICKEST AND MOST IRRATIONAL PART.

Everyone reading this began life as a human embryo. Ask any Embryologist. What does a woman - a normal woman - do after she finds out she’s pregnant? She calls a doctor. If she does not know how to handle a pregnancy, she gets advice from her doctor. No dope, no booze, eat right, and get enough rest. She needs support from family or friends, or a husband.

But - we live in a “take any choice you want regarding sex except the right one” media culture. If sex doesn’t mean anything and a baby in the womb doesn’t mean anything, what does that say about those people who decide - but who are otherwise healthy - that it’s not a human being and it can be aborted?

It’s irrational but it’s the message that’s been repeated for decades.

Reproductive rights are irrational.

Pro-choice means guaranteed death of a human being.

A woman’s right to choose NEVER includes a man - DID SHE GET PREGNANT BY HERSELF?

Sorry. Anyone who promotes abortion is living in an irrational fantasy land at best, or, have simply chosen to believe a lie without examining it.

Sadly, there is a small group of mostly rich and egotistical people who hate certain people and don’t want them to have babies. They yell overpopulation when they actually mean there are too many of those other people. We know for a fact that most of the population growth is occurring in countries where infant mortality is high and where starvation is more likely. Resources? They have very little. And they will continue to die off if there’s not enough food and clean water to go around.

Pro-choice = pro-death. It’s that simple.

Peace,
Ed

And by the way, the hatred is mostly coming from the other side, who, for example, label opponents of free birth control as being part of “The War on Women.”

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_on_Women

“access to reproductive health services, particularly birth control and abortion”

A HEALTHY WOMAN DOES NOT REQUIRE BIRTH CONTROL PILLS OR DEVICES. GOT THAT?

And a healthy woman who consented to sex does not require an abortion.

If you or anyone reading this does not understand the warped, twisted and evil mindset of those who promote hatred against right and normal living then it’s time you looked at those who are MANUFACTURING irrational words to fight what is good, right and normal for every woman.

www.now.org/

READ IT. ALL OF IT. This is pure, unadulterated lies.

If you don’t understand the lies and who promotes them, then you won’t be effective in dealing with others who believe the lies.

Peace,
Ed

It is my personal belief that people cannot be “evil”.

You need to get out more, or perhaps you are better off and happier not knowing.
I’ll agree with you that for most the problem is ignorance and not active evil, but there are more than a plenty of people who are rotten-to-the-core evil.

Margaret Sanger, one of the founders of the American Birth Control League, which later became the Planned Parenthood Federation of America is a good example. You can google some of her quotes, basically she pushed for extermination of races she considered “weeds”.

To paraphrase C.S.Lewis, 'the really evil do not run down alleys with gun in hand, they wear nice suits, are in well furnished offices, and rarely have to raise their voices"

That assumes that every abortion is the result of casual sex. Just under half of women who have abortions are married, and a great number of unmarried ones are in long term relationships.

And by the way, the hatred is mostly coming from the other side, who, for example, label opponents of free birth control as being part of “The War on Women.”
I would think that given the potential negative side effects, it would be more accurate to call those who promote the pill as being in a “war on women.”

As for the question in the OP:

Pro-choice people are not all the same. Just like Pro-life people are not all the same. 🙂

  1. *]Some pro-choice people are just stupid and it’s never occurred to them that an abortion might be wrong. It’s a possible medical procedure, and how can a medical procedure be wrong?

*]Many are unable (or unwilling) to see the reality of abortion. They understand that it might be wrong, but they do not see the many evidences (e.g. photos of fetuses, etc.) that it actually is wrong. They don’t want it to be wrong, so in the end they genuinely think it is not wrong. These are the people that could be reached and helped by required sonograms. (I am not being self-righteous about this at all–I have done the same thing, just with different issues.)

*]Some do not have the same respect for life in general that is a part of Christianity (although some probably call themselves Christians), and to them, in effect, it doesn’t matter whether abortion is murder or not, because murder is only a big deal as it affects others and society as a whole. These are the people you might find supporting those new ideas about infanticide not being all that bad.

*]Some are just weak-willed, and don’t care whether it is right or wrong because it is “necessary” for theit comfort.

*]A few favor abortion for some of the most evil reasons. These are the people who want to use abortion as a tool to promote eugenics, and who work to ensure that abortions continue to be racially unbalanced.

There are probably a lot of other reasons why people support abortion. It’s not a bad idea to figure it out, because what you would say to someone in group 2 are not the same as the things you would say to someone in group 3. All there is to say to someone in group 5 is, “Repent!”

To me, “evil” means that it is simply evil. It cannot be made good, ever, because it would just vanish otherwise. That is why I believe that no person can be “evil” because (at least in my mind) there MUST be at least this small portion of them ( a section of their conscience) that we as Catholics can use to help them.

But, yeah, you have a point. I don’t want to say it, but there is very little hope for these people… 😦
