Are plays/musicals/performances allowed in the sanctuary?

It seems quite prevalent for churches to hold plays, musicals or other performances within the sanctuary (not during Mass). It seems a bit irreverent, especially with churches that have the tabernacle in the rear of the sanctuary. Is this an abuse?:hmmm:

With the exception of some sacred music and Living Stations of the Cross - our parish uses the Gym or Parish Hall for entertainment events. Maybe we are strange?

It’s traditional to offer musical offerings (particularly sacred ones) in sancturaies, actually. Though a proper respect still ought to be used and the event is ideally free. Also, it’s recommended to move the Blessed Sacrament to another place, if possible, at that time in order to maintain appropriate dignity and respect for the LORD. By extension, I don’t think that there is an inherant problem with having certain other events like this. Though, again, some prudence needs to be used as to what should or should not be done as well as how to maintain a proper respect and devotion.
