Are secret weddings allowed?

I am staying with my boyfriend and we both hate it. We decided not to have sexual intercourse but we are tempted some times. The reason we are not married yet is because our culture requires that my boyfriend first buys me off from my parents “Which costs no less than 4,000 dollars in Uganda which is taking too long to raise” and we must present the acknowledgement letter to the priests before they give us the sacrament. Is it allowed to conducted a secret wedding without involving my parents maybe in another country.

It is the customs of your country that are preventing you from being married; not the requirements of the Church. As far as the Church is concerned, you could be married in the Church in another country. You can tell or not tell whomever you choose.
