Are the deuterocanonical books found in the septuagint?

I an the only catholic in my family in the last 400 years so there is a tiny bit of animosity whenever the subject of faith comes up. Recently my mother took a class on the septuagint and the pair said that the apocryphal books were rejected because they are not contained in the septuagint. Is there any credence to this argument?

Its actually the opposite of that. The septuagint did contain the “deuterocanonical” books. The septuagint was written in Greek, not Hebrew. For that reason Jewish and Protestant traditions have rejected the books not found in the Hebrew (Masoretic) canon.
