The mass is being said? I understand that Our Lady and the Angels and Saints are present at every mass but excuse my ignorance ,I wasn’t sure about the souls in purgatory at that time.Thanks for baring with me

Probably not. They are not yet perfected in grace, and therefore are not in the presence of God. Hence, I doubt they are present at the mass.

I have read many books on purgatory, which does not make me an authority. Really we can only speculate. Some think our Lord gives permission for the poor souls /Holy souls to be at Masses devoted to them or to all souls in purgatory, so it is possible that there are some at Mass. It is also possible they receive permission to solicit loved ones into praying for them. Again this is not dogma.

Similar to @2towers’ post, if God wills it, then it is so.
I suppose God would allow it if it benefits either the soul or those still living, but at the moment I cannot guess what that benefit would be.

The Holy Souls are not present in the same manner as Our Lady and the Saints (unless as a special grace from God granted to them), but they do benefit immensely from the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, especially Masses offered particularly for them. I think the above image does a good job of capturing what is occurring in the spiritual realm during the Mass. Notice the angel pouring the Precious Blood out over the souls in purgatory, who, though the Mass and the glory of heaven are veiled from them, benefit greatly from its effects.

Of course they are present! The Church Militant, Church Suffering, and Church Triumphant are all One in Christ the Head.
“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all things to myself” (John 12:32)
This verse alludes to the mystical and timeless re-enacting sacrifice of Calvary that is carried out in the Divine Liturgy. As Our Lord is lifted up on the Cross, he draws all of creation, including those in Purgatory, to Himself in this everlasting sacrifice.
