Are the moderators just kicking back at the moment?

I’ve seen some action…a suspension or two, the casual discussion area, the disclaimer thingie, a spike in the beer and wine sales in San Diego…

I think the moderators actions will no longer be visible like they were in the past, but maybe i’m wrong. Speculation, in other words.

Who is at “trust level 4” at the moment? Anyone?

Click on their id circle, it will show a date and reason. So it’s not obvious unless you stumble on it…
 
There is definitely still moderation. The flags are there for a reason. I think it’s still too soon to tell exactly how it will work. And I don’t know that they’ll divulge exactly how it works either. As soon as you tell everyone the exact parameters of your moderating system, you will have the users who try to dance all over the line without technically crossing it.

I could tell that moderation was scaled back a bit in the last few months of the old CAF. If anything, I think it’s improved slightly with the transition. But I think it’s difficult for any one poster to really have a good sense of how moderation is going. I know I don’t read anything close to every post in every thread. And I’m sure there are ebbs and flows when it comes to the amount of infighting taking place. So it’s not something I spend a whole lot of time trying to figure out. Does the disobot really exist in real life? Sounds like a person doctor who might be familiar with.
 
No, discobot is an automated bot user that appears when you mention him. He can take you through a beginning tutorial and a more advanced tutorial, but otherwise his abilities are a bit limited.
 
Well that’s a beginning, I suppose. Perhaps at some point more advanced artificial intelligence components can be implemented within discobots circuitry to better serve the higher purposes of the CAF Matrix.

That’s what I did. He will do some things in the regular threads, but I think he’ll only go through the tutorials in PM.

As far as I can figure, he only does six things:
  1. @discobot display help — This brings up the list of the other 5 things he can do.
  2. @discobot start new user — This starts up the basic tutorial where he walks you through basic things such as posting links, using emoji, tagging other users, using bold and italics, quoting, inserting pictures, flagging and liking, etc.
  3. @discobot start advanced user — This starts the advanced tutorial where he walks you through editing, deleting, tagging, tracking, polls, etc.
  4. @discobot roll #d# — Here, Discobot will roll the first number of dice (up to 20) with the second number of sides (up to 120). So you would say “roll 20d120” for him to roll twenty 120-sided dice.
  5. @discobot quote — He will respond with a random quote from a famous person.
  6. @discobot fortune — He will reply with something such as would come out of a fortune cookie or a magic 8 ball.
