Some of their plans for shows:
**PLAN ‘END OF AMERICA’ SHOWS
**
The TV networks are getting edgier in their '06 pilot plans.
The nets have filled their development slates with a bevy of brave ideas and bold format experiments, VARIETY reports on Monday, including shows about THE END OF AMERICA!
ABC alone has at least two would-be shows set in post-apocalyptic America (“Resistance” and “Red & Blue”) while Gavin Polone and Bruce Wagner are teaming for the comfy-sounding plague drama “Four Horsemen” at CBS (which also is developing “Jericho,” about life in a small town after America is destroyed).
Says Fox exec VP Craig Erwich: “The creative community appears to be really inspired this year,” he says. “It was an exciting time to be buying. I came away pretty encouraged about network TV.”

I think they are running out of ideas for so called "reality"shows, so now they are going overboard to go to the "hypothetical reality"shows. That’s why I avoid TV.

We went through this about 10 years ago…remember The Day After? After that, there was a run of several television movies about life in America after the bomb(s) go off. I remember watching them with several post-college friends and we all decided (being terribly sophisticated, drunk and coked out of our minds at the time which is pretty much what we thought sophisticated meant) that when the bombs went off we hoped that one would just land in the back yard, since life as it was being portrayed looked awfully grim.

Amazing what a prayer life and Eucharist can do to change the way you view even a ‘grim’ possible reality!

I think programs will induce fear and more worry, for those who really want to take these shows seriously.
I can imaging the ramifications about the programs becuase I am sure the ‘before’ senarios would feature a ‘Republican’ Presidential character.

What a fictional way to Bash our current affairs again?

I hope the audience is even LESS than it is right now!

Only because a Republican is in office. Everyone knows the media (except for Fox) hates the Republican party and is in the Democrats’ pocket.
