Are the scandals ever going to stop?

Did you think it was over? I am not sure what the purpose of posting another story about it will accomplish. It’s not as if we don’t know it continues to come out. I don’t care to follow along and keep a tally. I know it has happened.

As long as the Church is made up of fallen human beings, there will continue to be scandals. We cannot stop people from sinning this side of heaven.

What we try to do is to learn from the past, and to deal with them as best we can when they happen. The Church has already made great strides in this area, but that will never reduce the incidence to zero.

Okay, I just read the story. The headline is very misleading. This guy is not, nor was he ever, a priest of the Diocese of Cincinnati. He was ordained and serving in the Philippines.

It really is not clear. The article just states the Archdiocese of Cincinnati assigned him to the Philippines, but the Archdiocese denies it. Really doesn’t matter as the Church is worldwide and this is clearly an American in the Philippines.

Just getting sick of the endless scandals.

Mankind, including priests, will continue to sin. I doubt that all scandals will ever stop entirely.

I would hope that the number of child abuse cases involving priests declines over time as the seminaries screen more thoroughly and the dioceses put more safety and reporting procedures in place. There are plenty of other scandalous things priests do though, and I’m sure the media will continue to report on all of them because it’s a juicy story.

As for “getting embarrassing to be Catholic”, these cases have been coming up in the news since the 1980s on a regular basis. It is nothing new. My faith in Jesus Christ and His Church is not affected by what some person I have no control over is doing or what sins he’s committing, nor is it affected by the opinion of the great unwashed public.
