I have a 15 year old dirt devil hand held. It has an internal (non-replaceable) rechargeable battery and the charger is the vacuum rest. It is fairly easy to clean and the filter does not really need replacing. It is not so bad, I give it three stars. The battery life has deteriorated over years, as one would expect and the machine is nearly useless now.
I will add that when my cat, who passed away about 2 years ago, was a kitten, I was teasing her with it. I let her get too close and she accidentally got her face stuck in it and could not get off until I turned the machine off. When she got away, she was very embarrassed as only cats can be. She started to stalk away, then stopped, turn around and walked back to the vacuum and gave it one good slap with her paw. Then, tail straight in the air, she walked proudly away. From that moment one, she hated vacuum cleaners.
