Are there any Protestants talk about the virtues of Mary??

I listen to a lot of Protestant radio and even MP3s. I hear many sermons about many characters in the Bible: Noah, Moses, Peter, Paul, etc… I have heard Mary spoken about negatively, i.e. attempts to deny Catholic beliefs about her…but…

Are there any Protestant talks or books that talk about Mary favorably?
 
I recently heard a talk on Mary on my drive-home time show on the local Christian radio station, from the time, I believe the speaker may have been Chuck Swindoll, or Dr. David Jeremiah who also has a program about that time. The topic was Mary’s “yes” to God at the annunciation, and her example of discipleship, and yes the preacher quoted the Magnificat from Luke. Of course he did not make any implication about her Immaculate Conception, but focused on her example as the perfect disciple. very good talk.

I have heard both of them. I’ll check if I can find an archived podcast. I’d like to hear it. Why not! 😃
 
I believe there is a couple of liberal female protestants that have written on Mary, stoping short of the CC position but very close of Martin Luther original ideas. Mary as the first christian.
 
I heard that Martin Luther wrote a beautiful devotion to Mary. I’m not sure where to find it though.

Thanks. 😃 I didn’t specify, but was looking for more modern Protestants. So anyone else??

Actually I think that was written by Mark Lowry…but he is evangelical…so good catch! 🙂 That song is good in it’s recognition of Mary as Mother of God.

Check out the book A Protestant Pastor Looks at Mary by Charles Dickson. Written by a Lutheran pastor, it was published in 1996.
 
Note as I learned in the Eastern Orthodox subforum, the Inmaculate Conception is a dogma related to the Catholic doctrine on original sin. If a church have a different teaching on orignal sin is not necessary. Since many protestants have similar teachings they should look into it, They do not.
The Orthodox First Sin dogma is different.
