Are there Catholic mystics capable of interpreting your mystical experiences?

I believe I experienced a “mystical experience” after I was surgically operated in a Catholic Hospital to remove a polyp in the intestines opening a one foot cut in the body. It all started after the anesthesia/pain reliever failed to work for 3 hours. So I was with a terrible pain. It was at the end of the 3rd hour that I witnessed this mystical experience or you could just call a hallucination.

My question is are there Catholic religious mystics or maybe some monks who can rightfully interpret one’s mystical experiences? It’s like I’m wishing that there is another Padre Pio in this world.

I’ve often wondered this too. I’ve had enough private revelations in my lifetime, that I’d run to someone like St. Padre Pio to tell me exactly what is up. Then again, it’s doubtful they’d make themselves known.

I don’t think you necessarily need a mystic to interpret what might be mystical experiences. Just a wise and prudent spiritual director. The goal of interpreting such things would not necessarily always be to find their meaning so much as to submit them to the judgment of the Church.

That’s fair enough. I’ve been getting onslaughts of what is more like personal signal graces, as of late, than anything else.

Yes, a genuine mystic who is obedient to his spiritual director could do that.
St Faustina told a.girl, “You prised.God you would be a nun, you should fulfill that promise”
Padre Pio often had confessees in confession asking whether he had appeared to them in dreams or in their rooms,

Either that or;
A holy priest who has the talent for spiritual direction.
Jesuits priests are especially trained for discernment. And we’re the only priests who really could tell Teresa of Avila that she was.experiencing God.not satan

Yes. There are priests who can read hearts.

I had something that was causing me a lot of stress in my personal life and division in my marriage. I kept turning it around in my head, but I didn’t really have any way to figure out what path I needed to take. This went on for a couple of years.

I knew someone who had an interview with a heart-reading priest during a difficult time. I was preparing to visit that person… and there was a good chance the priest would be in town at the same time. (He traveled a lot out of the country.) I had an Experience that gave me the courage to ask if Person A could hook me up with a few minutes of Priest B’s time while I was in town. And-- they did.

But, of course, things turned out differently than I had expected, although nothing happened that was contrary to what I had been specifically promised. Priest B’s travels ended up being delayed, and I ended up talking to his brother, Priest C. And Priest C gave me the message I needed to come away with— “Joyful trust.” (My son, who was four at the time, also came away with some amazing Experiences.)

So— that’s how my experience went. I tried taking a shortcut to someone who could sit down and tell me what was what, and lay out exactly what God wanted me to do, and whether or not I had suffered a great loss as (punishment) (missed opportunity) (a message) (whatever), and whether something I felt stubbornly about was God’s will, or just my own imaginings, and whether insisting on it was worth fracturing my marriage over. I wanted to break that fourth wall and have the narrator tell me exactly what was going on in my life and draw me a map and give me a clear yes-or-no. But— it didn’t work out like that. It rarely does.

So— find yourself a good spiritual director if you need one for guidance (and not all priests are automatically great spiritual directors), but shortcuts often don’t work out, no matter how frustrated we are by our limitations.
