I have always heard and read that if one commits a sin and forgets to confess it, the individual should confess it at his or her next participation in the sacrament of reconciliation. My question is, can this person licitly receive Holy Communion in the meantime if the sin was grave after first realizing that the sin was forgotten? I know it sounds strange that a practicing Catholic would forget commiting mortal sin, but every so often I instantaneously recall unconfessed sins that pre-date my conversion that may fit all the criteria of being grave and I am wondering if it is wrong to recieve Jesus in the meantime if I intend on confessing them ASAP. Peace and blessings.
