Are video games with immodest characters sinful to play?

Some characters in computer/video games are dressed immodestly. Some examples of games that do that are World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, Soul Calibur, and Mortal Kombat. People spend hours playing these games and I was wondering if it’s okay to play games with immodest characters on the screen.

In many of these games, the “immodesty” is pretty much in cover art and cutscenes.

Some of these have choppy graphics, making clothing not that obvious. Some of these are played in 1st person POV so you don’t even see how they are dressed.

Personally, I play none of the above games, although I do like the Hearthstone cards from Heros of the Storm. I simply avoid the immodest cards and don’t watch cut scenes. Avoiding the immodesty in many games isn’t that hard.

I do not play these games, but the art in them, including the immodesty of dress, makes me depressed and sad for our society. They seem like a big, big waste of time. But, who am I to say so - I have my own time-wasters I indulge in that I need to discipline myself in.

It’s a waste of time and promotes sin as OK. I was watching one game and a character passes a woman on an ancient recliner. The camera pans past but there’s a vase on a stand and it starts to gyrate as female moaning begins. The vase falls over and the character appears back on screen. Terrible. Just terrible. I urge people to make good choices. No need for scantily clad females with oversized boobs either.

I’d argue that it depends on why someone is dressed immodestly. It’s like any other Art Form.

If it’s just to titillate then I’d say it’s probably and at the very least you should look away during said scenes. On the other hand if it’s to demonstrate something such as the culture of a setting (it would be inaccurate to portray a modern day beach or a greco-roman gymnasium where people were dressed modestly) or a character’s values (a promiscuous character probably wouldn’t dress modestly) then I’d say it’s acceptable.
